Mandana, portrait of an original art work that evokes the face of a young African woman using a technique between pointillism and neo-impressionism. |
Inspired by a travel photo, this canvas is part of the "Visages d'Afrique" project, which consists of a series of twelve (12) large format canvases evoking different African characters. The contemporary style canvas which is composed of a multitude of brightly colored touches presents a character with a mischievous look, but who is also very endearing with his pretty braid which falls on the tip of his nose. In the background there is a structure suggesting a counter and figures in the half-light protecting themselves from the sun. The dominant colors apart from the character are the turquoise green of the sweater while the sandy, semi-shaded backstage is in shades of beige and reveals part of the blue sky above the treetops. The dimensions of the gallery-size canvas are 48 x 36 inches (122 x 92 cm), and this one was done with a spatula and using acrylic paint. |
