Contemporary pointillist portrait from the series of paintings Faces of Africa entitled Semeni (Sold)

Artist's interpretation

This painting illustrates the character that is definitely the most mysterious and bewitching of the Faces of Africa series. This pointillist portrait shows a young African woman sitting sideways and observing us with a questioning and penetrating gaze. The semi-shadowed lighting of the figure accentuates the feeling of humidity and ambient heat translated by the beautiful blue reflections on her face and shoulder. A brighter background suggests huts and people busy with daily tasks.
