Thematic painting entitled Taratatanana which questions our modern civilization and its often artificial values
Interpretation of the artist
The thematic painting entitled Taratatanana evokes the madness of our modern civilization with its often artificial values and its very real cleavages. It reminds us that, despite all our efforts to build a rational and orderly society, we are still susceptible to falling into chaos through the actions of certain leaders.
The DADA movement from which this painting is inspired still seems relevant today. It was born during the first world war to question and criticize the values and social structures of the time.
This painting won the Jury's Choice Award from the Canada Council for the Arts in Ottawa and the 1st Grand Prize at the CAPSQ competition in Montreal in 2017.
