This contemporary pointillist portrait with bright colors captures the festive and intense atmosphere of the carnival
Interpretation of the work by the artist;
This painting is the fifth in a series of portraits entitled "Carnival in Martinique". This mini-series of identical medium format paintings is inspired by memories of trips to Martinique and is centered on some of the typical characters of the Martinique carnival. The characters are painted using a pictorial language inspired by pointillism interpreted in a contemporary way where the colors are essentially mixed on the palette and applied to the canvas in small touches, either individually or juxtaposed or superimposed. This acrylic knife portrait depicts a woman singing to the rhythmic music of the carnival.
